My life has been filled with experiences that have given me a great sense of satisfaction and fulfillment. I am married to a wonderful husband, Michael Robinson, whereas we have one child by the name of Darius. I am the youngest of five children; and my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Abe Jones, Jr. have always provided the educational, spiritual, and social encouragements that have been the guiding principles in my life.
My spiritual growth began at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, where I was an active member. I was baptized and began singing in the choir in 1986. Utilizing my God-given musical talent, I served as the assistant drummer and later as assistant pianist.
My social involvement goes back to my elementary years, when I first joined the school chorus. It was at that time that I chose to remain faithful to my singing throughout my twelve years of schooling by joining different musical groups. Although a Psychology major graduate, throughout my four years at Florida Memorial University, I became very active in the music department such as being a member of the Pops Ensemble, Ambassador Chorale, and the Gospel Choir until graduation in 2002. My talent has won me honors such as Who’s Who amongst College Achievers, Superior recognition from Motown Records, Miss United Negro College Fund 1999-2000, and Miss Florida Memorial University 2001-2002.
In 1999, I became a founding member of a group “Purpose” a female acapella quartet. “Purpose” allowed me to expose my gift even further by traveling from as far as New York City, to Seattle Washington ministering through song. Annual trips to Nassau Bahamas for four consecutive years helped build our stage presence and friendship. It has been a blessing and honor to have performed background vocals for Karen Clark Sheard. Opening acts for Marvin Sapp, Kim Burrell, God’s Property, Kelly Price, Mary J. Blige, Yolanda Adams, Trinitee 5-7, Dorinda Clark, and performances with Men of Standard. Since the group’s departure from College, I’ve continued to network and expose my talent as a soloist. In so doing, I have had the great opportunity to participate in music workshops with Andrea Crouch and Sandy Patti, perform for former Mayor of Atlanta, Andrew Jackson, Jackie Clark, Keith Washington, Vickie Yohe, Donald McClurkin, Martin Luther King, III., and Dave Hollister. I’ve also performed background vocals for William McDowell, Micah Stampley, Sherri Jones, and Lisa McClendon. My gift of singing has allowed me to complete and direct a gospel project that included a five day tour in Barcelona, and Madrid Spain in 2006. August of 2009, God graced me another opportunity to share the gospel by ministering in Lugano, Switzerland and Milano, Italy.
